Holography¶
ASKAP’s novelty lies in its use of phase array feeds (PAFs) that allow the electronic formation of primary beams. The system is equipped to anable the formation of 36 dual-polarization beams on each antenna. This makes it possible to control the sensitivity pattern across the field-of-view.
A requirement for the full use of the beam-forming system is the ability to measure the resulting sensitivity patterns. A suite of software, described here, has been developed to support holographic measurements of antenna beam response patterns.
